COVID-19

With the lockdown coming to an end and my B&B being able to open its doors from 15th July I would like to take the time to reassure my guests that I will do everything I can to minimise the chance of catching the virus here at Barrhill Woods.

As I can only do so much, I also ask you to do your bit as well.  Please remember to socially distance where possible, wear face masks where is it not (face masks are mandatory in all shops in Scotland) and wash or sanitise your hands regularly.  Please also be mindful of social distancing within the property where guests from other households are also staying with me.  Tissues have been provided in the rooms should you need them.  Disposal instructions are in the laminated pack in your room.  Please read this pack carefully as I will not be able to explain aspects of the rooms to you in person.

There is a bottle of sanitiser just inside the front door, please use it as you enter each time, and there is one in the dining room, please use before breakfast or if you are going to relax in the lounge or sun room.  As of 25th September 2020, if multiple bedrooms are occupied, the guest lounge and sun room are unavailable do to the new guidelines.

I have sat an online Covid cleaning course and would like to assure you that the bedrooms, bathrooms and communal areas will be cleaned and disinfected to the highest standards.  All soft furnishings, including carpets, curtains, mattresses and pillows will be steam cleaned and aired at guest change overs.  All high touch points will be disinfected a number of times throughout each day.  I will be carrying out the cleaning as though guests are asymptomatic with the virus, rather than waiting to hear, after a guest has left, that they have developed symptoms.

There will be no daily room service.  If you require fresh mugs, glasses or more tea, coffee and sugar please let me know at breakfast.  Fresh milk will be available in the guest fridge in the lounge.  When using this, please use the wipes provided to wipe the bottle in the fridge and the fridge handle after use.  Thank you.

Breakfast service will be as normal, with cereals, fresh fruit (summer only), yoghurt and cooked breakfast and will be in the dining area.  I will be operating a strict protocol of staggered breakfast times per room.  I will sanitise touch points between each sitting but would also ask you to ensure you sanitise your hands prior to touching the cereal containers and anything that can be used by each room.  Thank you for doing your part to help keep us all safe.  Due to the sittings, please be respectful and adhere punctually to your breakfast time.

Checking In time will be between 5pm and 6pm.  Check out time will be at 9:30am, or before.   Please understand that these are strict timings as I will need all the hours in between to clean and disinfect everywhere to keep everyone safe.  If for any reason this causes a problem, please call me to discuss options.

I hope the above reassures you that everything that can be done, to keep everyone safe, will be done.  In these strange times I would prefer a much more relaxed and flexible way to welcome my guests, but just at this point in time unfortunately rules, and the virus, dictate otherwise.

I wish you an enjoyable stay in Barrhill Woods B&B, Kirkcudbright and Dumfries and Galloway.
